An Easter Without Candy | Focusing on Sunshine, Laughter and Fun

Is a beautiful time of year. For the most part, I remember the day being spent in the sunshine with family. This year was no different. My husband & I did yard work while our children played with the friends who have become like family since we’re so very far from home! The weather was perfect and I couldn’t help to stop and snap some memories to preserve.

I was recently diagnosed with Graves’ Disease, an autoimmune disorder. Most people take medication or have surgery but through research, I have found that a natural approach is something that I can handle (though it is very tough.) Because of the strict diet and the fact that I could pass this disorder to my children, we are in the process of cleaning up our lifestyle and therefore we had a candy-free Easter! That was tough but healthy living now, will help them to make healthy choices as they grow.

I purchased classic toys for their easter baskets. Things like bubbles, hula hoops, chalk and a few personalized goodies. For the most part, they shared what they had received and that made my Mama heart smile. I took some of these really fun shots with the Lensbaby Spark Lens. I feel like that lens choice made these images a bit more emotional and made them feel like memories the second I was finished processing them (even though they had been taken earlier today.)
